Title: Define the differences between necessities, comforts, and luxuries In reality, when is enough really enough? It is often said that everyone has needs and wants. Our needs are made up of a combination of supplies and equipments that we consider essential in order for us to survive. However, peoples wants are simply desires that we all have besides our needs. Most people make every effort to improve lifestyles to have better conditions for themselves as well as for their families. However, a persons needs, comforts, and luxuries will drastically vary depending on their financial situation, their personality, and the countrys economy. If someone is not financially stable, he or she will not be able to afford a luxurious lifestyle. Such a person will most likely seek a comfortable style of living where they are able to simply to fulfil their basic necessities. On the other a middle class family will want to live comfortably not only being able to buy everything they need, but also to fulfil their wants as well. They do have a choice on whether they want to spend their money on living luxuriously, but one of their ultimate goals in life will be to improve their quality of living. Now think of a high class family and how they basically have everything they need and want. They cannot ask for more because they know very well that they are able to afford it. Everything that they buy is to comfort and to spoil themselves. It is important to understand that not all people are the same. Despite the fact that some have more wants than others, some actually can control themselves by telling themselves that buying certain things are not necessary. For instance, take a person who wants to start eating healthy. It is so expensive to eat healthy that they might reconsider. Therefore, they are choosing a want over a need. I can use myself as an example because at often times I want everything, but then I say to myself, It is really something that I cant live without? Like mentioned before, everyone is different. Maybe for some it is crucial for them to have something, while the other sees it as less valuable, therefore they say to themselves that they dont need nor want it. A middle class family should normally live a lifestyle where they consider as comforting and satisfied. They should be able to at least rent or own a house, yet at the same time strive for luxurious accessories and items. Nonetheless, they cannot always buy everything and spoil their kids with toys because if you come to think about it, is it really necessary? In the end you might be donating everything to Goodwill or to Salvation Army. Therefore, before buying something, think twice and ask yourself if it is really worth it? A countrys economy can also be related to how everyone chooses what their real needs and wants are. It is obvious that developing compared to developed countries have different levels of necessities. For instance, a third world country may say that having a car is not really essential because food is more important, but a developed country may debate that nowadays, having a car is quite necessary because it is a form of transportation. In poorer countries, food may really be all they really need and their wants might be simple things such as computers, televisions, and for many an education. Therefore, it really does depend on what a family in a developing and a developed country is used to. It is explained by Vick Karl in his article titled A Man of Peoples Needs and Wants published in The Washington Post, that needs can vary according to a persons age, the physical environment, the way a person is raised, their health, as well as many other factors. Nevertheless, within the years, these differences have changed. Certain ways of looking at this scenario would be trying to understand that the old often need less than the young, the low class might often need less than the higher class people, and the healthy might need less than the ill. It is really impossible to be able to draw the
